Nicole Santos

In her role as CPR3’s Associate Director of Research Operations, Nicole is responsible for the scientific content and oversight of the Request of Proposal (RFP) process. 

For the past 10 years, Nicole has served as a research program manager for various projects and programs related to maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH). She previously led the Preterm Birth Initiative (PTBi) East Africa's Discovery portfolio, which granted over $2M in research funds to principal investigators in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. In addition to overseeing all aspects of RFP dissemination and project selection/monitoring, she provided research support to early-stage investigators and also worked closely with the initiative’s implementation research teams in various capacities. 

In addition to her role with CPR3, Nicole is Associate Director of PTBi’s Postdoctoral Fellowship program which focuses on improving maternal and neonatal outcomes by addressing racial disparities. She also manages a 3-year longitudinal cohort study in Harare, Zimbabwe aimed to validate the use of various neurodevelopmental assessment tools for early identification of development delay or disability before two years of age.
